March, 2016 to February, 2017
As you may already know, the Next System Teach-Ins are kicking-off?this Thursday?— with our?inaugural teach-in beginning today in Madison, Wisconsin!
We are thrilled that so many have responded with enthusiasm to our call for nationwide teach-ins on systemic change and transformation. We’ve heard from folks from across the country and around the world — from small-town Alabama to Detroit, from?Ivy League universities to community colleges and adult education centers, and from retirement communities to faith-based organizations?— expressing their interest to first discussing and then beginning to move towards a next system.
One teach-in host has already signed on to replicate the teach-in twice a year through 2020 at their campus!
And individuals and organizations in Australia, Spain, Brazil, Tanzania, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and beyond want to replicate the teach-ins in their own countries and communities.
Our Inaugural Teach-Ins in Madison Wisconsin, and?(next week) in New York City?will feature inspirational speakers like Dey Del Rio, Co-Director of the New Economy Project, Jacqui Patterson, the NAACP’s Director of the Environmental and Climate Justice Program, and our own Gar Alperovitz, Co-Chair of the Next System Project. And Noam Chomsky will be sending a message of support.
If you are unable to attend either of these teach-ins, but still want to get inspired, don’t worry —?the opening plenary of the New York Teach-In will be livestreamed at?6:30pm?Eastern on?Thursday, March 10th.?Follow the link here to watch.?(Many more teach-ins will be occurring across the country —?look for one near you on our teach-ins map.) ?
Our inaugural teach-ins will have art production, film, structured networking, and dozens of workshops covering topics ranging from workplace democracy, student power and university money, to participatory budgeting and community control of the police. (See below for more information.)
